Dear Shelby Families,
The District has developed a tentative plan in the event of a short-term or long-term closure of school.
If you are not currently enrolled in the district text alerts for BOTH “Weather Delays/Cancellations” AND your child’s individual school building, you must sign up on the school website immediately.
Your child’s teacher will communicate with you regarding availability of assignments either online or via hardcopy. For parents whose students are in PreK-4, if you are currently not on your child’s teacher’s classroom communication method (e.g., Classroom Dojo, Remind, etc.), you must activate your account immediately.
Day 1 and 2: No students report to school; staff reports for planning.
Day 3: No students report to school; staff reports for planning. Families can pick up hard copies of assignments from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at each school if they do not have online access.
Day 4 until further notice: No students report to school. Staff reporting to be determined on a daily basis. Students need to begin work from home, which means online assignments or hardcopy assignments. Your child will be required to participate in these assignments; grades will be recorded.
This plan could change. The time frame will remain fluid depending on the guidance and recommendations of state and local governments and health agencies. Please see the latest updates on our school website: https://testing.shelbyk12.org/covid-19-district-updates/.
Sincerely,
Tim Tarvin
Superintendent, Shelby City Schools
