Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Shelby City School District, administration, and staff values ongoing instruction but also supports the limited use of calamity days. As colder, more inclement weather becomes the norm, please know that if the Shelby City School District closes due to poor weather conditions, the closure practices we have used in past years will continue this school year as well. That is, the first five days school is closed due to weather-related events, those days will be considered calamity days (snow days), school buildings throughout the district will be closed and no work will be required from your child.
However, if we go beyond five calamity/snow days, board policy states that students will receive instruction and be responsible for completing their assignments. To that end, beginning on the sixth calamity day, Shelby City School staff will provide instruction to our students via remote learning. Remote learning will be delivered electronically by the teachers and each student will use his/her chromebook to complete assignments and communicate with his/her teacher.
